Breidavik Beach

Take a break from all that hiking on craggy hills and cliffs by hanging out at this quiet golden sand beach in Westfjords.

If you’re thinking of a way to take a quick breather and rejuvenate yourself in the midst of long hours of travelling and physically-exhausting hikes, then you should definitely drive down to Breidavik Beach in Westfjords. Unlike many other regions in Iceland that are cold and windy, this countryside has a more vibrant atmosphere to it. The sand is a beautiful gold while the seawater looks a gentle shade of blue. In the backdrop is a vast green meadow with a little church in the middle as well, which you can visit if you so desire. This beach is the perfect spot for a picnic. Visitors usually drop by here after going birdwatching at the nearby Látrabjarg bird cliffs, and if you are looking to just relax, then this would be the ideal place to go to.

Tips Before You Go
Despite being a good place to just relax, Breidavik Beach actually has very little in the way of sightseeing. Besides the meadow and beach itself, there isn’t much to do here at all other than to just chill. Instead of making this a focal point of your trip, why not make this a detour instead, after you have gone to other scenic landmarks and engaged in some physical activity.
