Breheimen National Park

Breheimen National Park is like a parallel universe, with its unprecedented beauty and heritage.

We’re not exaggerating. Connected to Jostedalsbreen National Park, the Breheimen National Park is truly enormous as the park covers approximately 1,671 square kilometres of the Brehemein mountain range. With its versatile natural environment featuring lush greenery, gorgeous valleys, streaming rivers and bare mountain-tops, the National Park is sure to astound you with its mesmerizing beauty.

You will find that the Norwegian Trekking Association (DNT) has created well-marked trails and also has built cabins in and around the National Park for you to traverse through and indulge in this environment’s natural beauty. Of course, that National Park boats a cultural heritage that date back thousands of years, which prove that people called the area home in prehistoric times. One fine example is the presence of reindeer ‘pits’ (hunting graves) which date back to almost 9,000 years ago and is a tradition that still lives on today.

Aside from the reindeer, you might just be able to lay your eyes on the other wild animals that call this National Park home, including the wolverine (not to be mistaken with Hugh Jackman, of course!), the king eagle, falcons and even buzzards. With so much to do and see at this wonderful haven, the Breheimen National Park is must-visit for all who travel to Norway.
