Botanical Gardens (Jardin Botanico)

Stop by this Botanical Garden for a breath of fresh air.

Home to about 5,500 species of plants, trees and shrubs, the Buenos Aires Botanical Garden is a sight to behold. You won’t be finding just lush greenery here: the garden is home to some striking sculptures and monuments as well.

As you wander the park, you’ll notice the distinct landscape gardening styles, featuring Roman, French and Oriental inspired gardens. The Roman gardens are overseen by an imposing sculpture of Mercury, and the French garden bears a symmetric style that is uniquely French, from the 17th and 18th century. The oriental garden has a variety of plants classified by origin, from Asian Gingko trees to oaks and hazelnut trees from Europe. Make your way to the winter-houses, the biggest having received recognition in the 1889, at the Paris Universal Exhibition. Cat lovers, keep an eye out for your favourite felines, who are allowed to live in the Garden until they are put up for adoption.
