Boboli Gardens

Akin to an open-air museum, decorated with mythical sculptures and more.

With centuries-old oak trees offering respite from the Florentine sun, the Boboli Gardens reflect s the beauty of the four seasons through its ever-changing foliage. A stroll from the Palazzo Pitti will take you to the amphitheater, where you will be greeted by an ‘artichoke’ fountain with a huge octagonal basin decorated with statues and crowned by a bronze lily. Look out for the Egyptian Obelisk standing in the middle, brought from Luxor in 1789.

In addition, admire ‘Ocean’, a fountain created by Giambologna, with three sculptures symbolizing the Nile, Ganges and Euphrates Rivers at the Isolotto. Be intrigued by the Grotto Grande decorated with stalactites - fine examples of Mannerist sculptures, as well as famous paintings such as 'Bathing Venus' by Giambologna and 'Paris and Helen' by Vincenzo de' Rossi. Do not forget to feast your eyes on the stellar views of Florence from the top!
