Blue Lake Jenolan
Be utterly memerised by the distinctly blue waters.
A major feature of the Jenolan Caves is the exquisite Blue Lake, which was built in 1908 to generate electricity. Named after its distinctly blue waters, which are caused by the refraction of light through limestone sediments, it is an irresistible photo spot for all visitors. See if you can spot the resident platypus that lurks in the pristine waters, or else enjoy some birdwatching while you are here. To fully experience the area, begin at the Grand Arch and embark on the relatively easy 2.6km Jenolan River scenic walk, where you will get to immerse yourself in picturesque views of the river, lake and waterfalls along the way.

Tips Before You Go
If you plan on walking along the length of the Blue Lake, then make sure to wear comfortable shoes and to bring some water along. You would definitely want to take pictures of the various animals that live here, but do be warned that they are easily spooked. As such, it is recommended that you switch off your flash and keep your volume down. Who knows, you might just see the elusive platypus if you\'re quiet enough.
