Bich Dong Pagoda

Witness the serenity of Bich Dong Pagoda and find your own inner peace.

Bich Dong Pagoda is in fact a complex of mountain pagodas that comprises a part of the Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Unlike many other pagodas, Bich Dong is isolated high in the mountains, which adds to its sense of religious purity. The beautiful structure is nestled in the middle of dense vegetation, with upturned roofs and intricately carved dragon detailing giving it a grand appearance amidst the trees. The sight of its traditional architecture is poignant and evocative, and will make you feel as if you’ve just completed a religious pilgrimage. The Lower Pagoda is located at the base of the complex, after which one hundred steps lead to the Middle Pagoda, before a short but steep ascent brings you straight up to the Upper Pagoda. Peering inside each cave temple will yield a glimpse of looming Buddha statues amidst a haze of burning incense. Below, the incredible countryside of Tham Coc is spread out before your eyes like a blanket. Even if you don’t subscribe to Buddhism, the majestic views here will surely justify visiting this place.

Tips Before You Go
Don’t forget to be well-shod with durable footwear as the rocks here can be quite slippery and sharp. And avoid over-friendly locals who offer photography services or to be your tour guide. They will demand payment in the end and cause a scene if you don’t, so keep a lookout for them.
