Bibliothèque nationale de France (National Library of France)

Bookworms in Paris can slither through the library for a day of leisure.

The National Library of France can be described as a millionaire – not financially, but in terms of their collection. With a collection purportedly amounting to a count of 15 million, virtually any topic can be comprehensively researched here. Due to the large volume of books and other printed items, the library is divided into four locations – the François-Mitterrand Library, the Richelieu Library, the Arsenal Library and the Opéra Library.

All except the Opéra Library offer guided tours, so that you may learn more about the place and the respective buildings that the materials are housed in. A Reader's card pass can be purchased to give you access to reading rooms, exhibitions, concerts and even shows at the library.

Tips Before You Go
The library also hosts several temporary exhibitions throughout the year, ranging from French history to how books are used in contemporary art. Make sure to check beforehand to see if there are any exhibitions that particularly tickle your fancy. Do set aside a few hours to thoroughly explore this place, as the four libraries all house different books and manuscripts.
