Indulge your eyes in the opulence of the Ottoman Sultans.
Nestled on the Asian shore of the Bosphorus, the Beylerbeyi Palace was the summer residence of the Sultans. Retrace the footsteps of the Prince of Serbia and other foreign dignitaries who had once visited this palace. Be mesmerized by the dazzling Bohemian crystal chandeliers, exquisite Ming Dynasty vases and gorgeous Hereke carpets. Gaze at the interesting frescoes depicting naval scenes and admire the grandeur of the Selamlik (ceremonial quarters). A peek into the lavish Harem must not be missed as well.
Feel like royalty in the Sultan’s gold-plated apartment and see the dining room where chairs are wrapped in gazelle skin. Head to the water’s edge to cool down by the marble bathing pavilion, just like what the Sultans used to do during the scorching summer months. Unwind with a nice cup of Türk çayı (Turkish tea) or coffee in the garden, which faces the magnificent sea of Bosphorus.
