Benowo Waterfall (Cerog Benowo)

A roaring force of nature.

Benowo Waterfall is a revelation in the middle of the Indonesian jungle. You arrive there after winding your way through the boardwalk trails that lead from the village of Kalisidi, a journey that’s teeming with insects and other wildlife. You’ll hear the waterfall before you even see it. The water falls from a height of over 30 metres, gushing vertically into the plunge pool below. The roar is so loud that you’ll barely be able to hear yourself thing. The mountains curve around in a bowl shape, welcoming you into the embrace of the waterfall. You’ll see locals step right up into the spray, the cold of the water a welcome respite from the heat of the day. The waterfall is not hidden away as some others are, but displays itself openly to all who have made it this far. If you want to see more, you can make an adventurous hike up the surrounding rocky cliff faces to the top of the waterfall, where several natural ponds and the source of the waterfall await. Take a moment to admire the serenity of this untouched natural marvel.

Tips Before You Go
Do take note that the walking trails and waterfall area are slippery, so covered shoes would be a good choice of footwear. Because the boardwalk trails have no railings, they may be dangerous for small children.
