Beng Mealea

A mystical 12th century temple of the Khmer Empire.

Mystery and magic surround the spectacular ruins of Beng Mealea. A fantastic experience await all those that enter these marvellous ruins, with piles of exquisite sandstone blocks, elaborate carvings and a well-preserved ancient library all adding to the mystical and transcendental atmosphere of the ruined temple.

Originally said to have been built as an Hindu temple, ornate carvings of scenes from Hindu mythology adorn the temple walls - gaze them thoroughly for they are, on their own, incredible works of art and are a testament to the fine craftsmanship of its time. Marvel at the gargantuan moat that surrounds this enigmatic temple and wonder at a life that once was under the reign of a mighty empire. Only recently has a road been paved to reach this elusive temple, making it one still relatively untouched by the tourism that engulfs Angkor today, perfect for explorers who thrive off wandering down the path less traveled. Beng Mealea is the remnant of an epoch no longer in existence, and in an era where everything progresses swiftly, embrace a spiritual experience by stepping into a place where time has stood still.

Tips Before You Go
The Beng Mealea is an attraction that is not included in the commonly purchased Angkor Wat Park Pass (a pass that provides entry to many of the Angkor ruins). Hence, you will have to pay a separate entrance fee when visiting this great monument but it is definitely worth the fees and the visit.
