Beijing Botanical Garden (北京植物园)
Here lies the sleeping Buddha.
The Beijing Botanical Garden is the largest botanical gardens in northern China, covering an area equivalent to 100 football fields! It is home to over 6,000 species of plants such as the pitcher plant, sakura blossoms, and the sacred Bodhi tree – the type of tree of which Buddha was said to have been sitting under when he attained enlightenment. One of the oldest temples in Beijing can also be found here. The Wofo Temple was established over 1300 years ago, during the Tang Dynasty, and houses China’s biggest bronze statue of the Recumbent Buddha, Sakyamuni, also known as the Sleeping Buddha. This is one place nature lovers and history buffs should not miss when in Beijing!

Tips Before You Go
You could easily spend half a day here, so be sure to set aside enough time for your trip. On that note, the place can get extremely crowded in the first week of October, as that is a national holiday week. As such, it is recommended that you visit on any other day except for that particular week. You won\'t need a tour guide either, as there are English signs here as well.
