Bayshore Boulevard

What could possibly be in a bayside promenade that makes it one of the most loved city attractions?

Few believe that a promenade, a walkway skirting the bay can break records. Bayshore Boulevard is in fact world record breaking, a 4.5mi long world record in fact. As the world’s longest continuous sidewalk, the stretch has much to defend for its title. From Columbus Statue Park north of the MacDill Air Force Base to Gandy Boulevard in Tampa’s downtown, the route will bring you through a wide spectrum of Tampa’s best sights. The fitness buffs and local regulars are a permanent feature of your stroll, either on their two feet or a set of wheels to take in the balmy breeze together with you. Luxury villas and high rise swanky estates aside, you’ll pass by a 100 years of history retold by architecture at the Old Hyde Park. The unchanging view of the horizon runs alongside, the waters lapping listlessly at the coastal barrier while providing a calming contrast to the greens and steel bordering it.

By night, the promenade wraps itself in an alluring façade. Tampa Bay is a mirrored canvas of neon lights and luminescent colors diffusing across the jet black slate. With downtown Tampa to your back and a path paved ahead just for you and that special someone, you would be hard-pressed to think of a more dreamy end to the day.

Tips Before You Go
As January is about to come to a close, there is several reasons to celebrate at Tampa. The biggest reason is like the Gasparilla Pirate Parade, an extravaganza that spotlights fantastical floats, bands and of course, costumed pirates. It is a historic tradition meant to mark the times when Florida’s bays were infested with pirates but the festival has since grown to become the 3rd Largest Parade in the country.
