Barker Dam

A century-old dam with incredible wildlife.

Also known as Big Horn Dam and classified in the U.S National Registry of Historic Places, Barker Dam in Joshua Tree National Park is not just a beautiful location with plenty of photo opportunities, but also serves as a gathering spot for desert wildlife. Built in the 19th century, it remains today as a stunning oasis in the desert when full of water. When you visit the dam, look for the sign carved by the brothers who helped build it a century ago, still remaining and well-preserved.
