Barcelona City History Museum

Visiting this museum is like stepping into a time machine transporting you to Barcelona, 2000 years ago.

For a crash course in the history of Barcelona, the Museu d'Història de Barcelona (MUHBA) is the perfect place to start. The MUHBA not only focuses on the extensive history of the Catalan capital, but how it is related to the other capitals of the world. The history of this iconic city is depicted up to 2000 years ago, backdating to Roman times. The main façade is located in Plaça del Rei, with other heritage sites scattered around the city. Ancient history enthusiasts will find the underground area of the museum particularly enthralling, as the Roman city of Barcino is depicted here, with factories, shops, and streets as it was. Do note that you should avoid Mondays as the museum is closed. Tickets go at around 7 euros per adult, but are free for under 16s. The good news is if you go on the first Sunday of the month, or any Sunday after 3pm, entrance is absolutely free.
