Baochu Pagoda (保俶塔)

A towering pagoda that resembles a solemn spire.

Translated to “Protect Chu Pagoda” in English, Baochu Pagoda was constructed for people to pray for their beloved King Qian Chu to make a safe return from his trip to the emperor. This lofty landmark is situated atop Baoshi Hill, its atypical style cutting a striking figure that looms elegantly in the distance. While there are no internal staircases to climb, the intricate details on the slender body of the reconstructed pagoda is a stunning sight that merits a visit. Instead of entering the pagoda, you can enjoy a scenic picnic atop the hill where you will be subjected to a gorgeous view of the glistening West Lake. The hill itself is a stunner that glitters and glints in the sunlight due to the abundance of rhyolite and tuff rocks. The tranquillity of the Chinese landscape found at Baochu Pagoda is the perfect getaway from the bustling city centre.

Tips Before You Go
This may not be the most suitable place for those with mobility issues, as you will be expected to climb up a rocky and steep path to get to the summit. Wear shoes with good ankle support if you plan on going up though, as you wouldn’t want to slip and accidentally sprain your ankle.
