Bangalore Palace

British on the outside, Indian on the inside.

Built in the 1880s, the Bangalore Palace oozes old world charm and luxury. The palace was commissioned by King Chamaraja Wadiyar, and influenced by Tudor and Scottish Gothic styles of architecture. Standing at 2 storeys high with turreted parapets, Roman arches and vine-covered walls, occupying 45,000 square feet, the appearance of this structure is so quintessentially British that you will be forgiven for mistaking this setting to be located in Britain. However, upon stepping inside, you will realise that you are indeed in India, as the interior is decorated with elephant trophies, photographs of the Wadiyar dynasty, and 19-20th century Indian art. In the midst of such splendour, do look out for artworks by one of India’s most famous painters - Raja Ravi Varma. A popular place for events ranging from the domains of music to cultural, visit the Bangalore Palace and see just how decadent and luxurious the palace is with your own eyes.
