Chiller boxes filled with crush ice by the side, the regular fishermen sit by the pier at Ballast Point Park in patient anticipation for the tug at the end of the line. Open at any time of the day, there are no limits as to when one can pursue the art of fishing by the edge of Tampa at Ballast Point. With triumphant glee, you might be the lucky one feeling a tug at the end of your line. Reeling it in, you might be greeted by the sight of a flapping spotted sea trout or the freckled mangrove snapper.
6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and then I let it go again
There are plenty of other sights to distract you from your catch at the park. The splash park is constantly buzzing with children in their swimsuits, laughing and chasing each other. Quieter pavilions by the side make space for a shaded picnic watching the sailboats bump past. There isn’t much you would need to enjoy the Ballast Point Park, a public sanctuary to admire Tampa Bay from.
