Bal Harbor Beach

The pearl of Miami growing between the tight lips of Bal Harbor.

Sleek white and Mediterranean blues dance to the sea breeze across the façade of posh resorts and ultra-chic boutiques that serve up the best of modern finery. Bal Harbor is the pearl of Miami, its iridescent luster unmistakably reflected off its high end eateries and facilities. Let this not intimidate you though because the beaches are an enclave of tranquility, its sands as white and pure as the walls of the villas backing it. Often it may seem as if you’re the only soul to have set foot on these shores, your beach towel unfurled upon virgin land that still carries the pristine quality of a natural beach. As your skin bronzes under the sun, the bobbing boats above the deeper waters serve as live entertainment. The balmy wind barely disturbs the lapping waves, the only ripples and breaks caused by the swooping seagulls and pelicans stealing the catch of the fishermen. With the whispering song of the sea a lullaby in the background, you inevitably doze off in the afternoon heat with the crystal clear waters still rippling beneath your lids.

Tips Before You Go
If you’re up for a little more physical activity then head to the Beach Walk path. This walkway extends parallel to the length of Bal Harbor, veering south into Surfside such that the Atlantic is always to one hand throughout your stroll. Walking in the opposite direction, you can head up the seawall jetty instead. This is the perfect perch for a sunset shot at the beach for that Polaroid moment by the sea.
