Bahá’í Gardens and Golden Dome

See the crown jewels of Northern Israel – the Bahá’í Gardens and Golden Dome.

Designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2008, the Bahá'í Gardens and Golden Dome are also pilgrimage places for the followers of the Bahá'í Faith. The exceptionally secretive Bahá'ís regard this wondrous place to be a ‘gift to humanity’. The heart of this complex is the golden-domed Shrine of the Báb, which crowns the peak of Mount Carmel. Be dazzled by its mind-boggling 12,000 fish-scale tiles which were made in Portugal. Consisting of 50 intriguing shapes and sizes, the tiles were formed by glazing fire over gold leaf.

The glorious beauty of the Golden Dome is augmented by the meticulously landscaped garden, which is a joyous climb of 1700 steps from the bottom to the top. Unmissable from all angles, the 19 garden terraces showcase about 450 species of plants. A great place for a workout while breathing in the sweet scent of flowers, turn around and face the Mediterranean sea intermittently as you climb to the top, whether it be to take a selfie or simply admire the panoramic scenery.

Tips Before You Go
As it is a religious site, visitors are reminded to dress conservatively. This means no shorts, and if you\'re wearing a skirt, it has to be below knee levels. You might get turned away if you don\'t comply, so to avoid disappointment, it would be best to follow the dress code.
