Avalon Beach
Specially for beachgoers and surfers.
Avalon Beach is located in the northern region of Sydney, 37km north of the Central Business District. It features soft copper sands and a 25-m salt-water rock pool that is great for swimming, which can be found at the south end of the beach. Being a popular surf spot, it is no wonder that some of the prior and current residents of the Avalon region include former surfing world champions like Ben Player. So, head down for an afternoon swim, engage in some water sports or simply bask in the sun while you watch experienced surfers catch the biggest wavs.

Tips Before You Go
Remember to put on your sunscreen and to bring along an umbrella or tent. There is limited shade here and the heat can be absolutely unbearable during the summer. There are also lifeguards on duty everywhere, so even inexperienced swimmers can try swimming in the sea. Just be sure not to venture too far out.
