In a city known for its desert landscapes, buildings predominantly mimicking the sandstone constructions of the past, the Aspire Park is a startling sea of green found within the sporting central of the Middle East. Hundreds of visitors stroll along the paths meandering through the park, a melting pot of tourists and locals appreciating the serenity and clean airs of the green space. Lakes, football fields and other sporting amenities pack the 88 hectares of parkland within the Aspire Park, making it the biggest oasis of green within Doha.

The colorful slides and swings at the children’s play area are almost always overflowing with bundles of mirth and energy, giggling over newfound friendships cemented through a simple game of tag. Park lamps powered by the sun lead visitors through the countless lawns and picnic spaces, the fresh cut grass glinting with the sheen of a thousand crystals scattered beneath the sun. As you approach the only lake within Doha, you can walk through a tunnel of water as two rows of spouts shoot jets of water in a misty arc along a wood planked bridge.

Electric lamps fitted into retro kerosene lamp casings light up the Burgeri, your stop for a juicy, tender offering of burgers and fries in a vintage space. For a lighter bite, you can sip away at freshly brewed coffee by the fountain, soaking in the views of local families and their children enjoying a day out and the quiet peace of nature enveloping the entire compound. Biking through the bloated boabs of Argentina or jogging past swaying palms, time seems to come to a standstill once you enter the park. Savor every moment and take the time to appreciate your company at the Aspire Park.

Tips Before You Go
Within Aspire Park is the Torch Tower, a 300m tall replica of an Olympic Torch that was erected for the 15th Asian Games which Qatar hosted. By night, the tower is lit ablaze in a haze of colors sporting electric blues and purples crowned by flaming orange that can be seen from any point within the Aspire Zone. If you don’t stay long enough to view it, it’s still worth walking past in the day to take a glimpse at the modern day hotel it now houses. Another important point to note would be that this family centric park has a strict dress code that is enforced so visitors should ensure that all their clothing covers the shoulders, knees and midriffs.
