A United States military cemetery of much significance, the Arlington National Cemetery occupies a massive area of 624 acres. More than 400,000 veterans from World Wars I and II, the Korean War, Vietnam War, the Cold War, America’s Civil War and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan were laid to rest in this military cemetery.


See the frequently visited gravesite of President John F. Kennedy and the eternal flame lit by Jacqueline and Robert Kennedy in 1963 which still remains alight today. Other notable burials include the two astronauts killed by a fire in Apollo 1 in 1967 and the first soldier to be buried here on May 13, 1864, Private William Henry Christman of Pennsylvania. Home to famous historic sites in the US, see the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, a tribute to all the unidentified fallen soldiers.
