A unique museum housed in a charming old cotton mill offers delightful and thought-provoking exhibitions about working life.
The curious Arbetets Museum is dedicated to the lifeblood of all cities: work. Roughly translated as the Museum of Work, documents the history of work. Here, visitors study the working lives and conditions of typical inhabitants of Norrköping, and how they have changed over time.
Expect a feast for the senses, as the museum brings the life of typical workers throughout history, both men and women, to life. The highlight of the museum is its display about Alva Carlsson, a worker in the former early 20th century cotton mill which now houses the museum. Its temporary exhibitions are well worth a visit as well, with themes revolving around important issues like gender, human rights and multiculturalism.
