Offering an unprecedented opportunity to gain a taste of navigating Roman and Moorish archaeological remains in southern Spain, the Antiquarium is ideal for history buffs or individuals keen on archaeology or Roman history. Situated in the basement of Metropol Parasol in Plaza Encarnacion, the roman ruins were discovered as the area was being excavated for construction of the modern architectural wonder, and offer an intriguing rest stop away from other major tourist attractions in Seville.

The museum can be accessed down the stairs from the Plaza, and comprises 11 areas of remains: seven houses with mosaic floors, columns and wells; fish salting vats; and various streets. HIghlights include the Casa de la Columna, the “kissing birds” mosaic which has been reconstructed on the museum wall, and the compelling mosaic of Medusa on the museum floor.
