History combined with a fantastic view.

Is there anything better than watching the sun kiss pristine blue waters as it sets? At the Altafjord in Alta, Norway, this is exactly the sort of sight you will get to see. Also referred to as the “Altenfjord” in the 20th century, this fjord has a length of 38m, stretching out from the town of Alta, to the islands of Stjernøya and Seiland.


History lovers will enjoy the pre-historic rock carvings, many of which can be found along Kåfjord, Jiepmaluokta, and Amtmannsnes. These carvings date back to at least 6000 years ago, providing an insight of how others before us lived. Parts of the fjord were unfortunately attacked during the Second World War. An area steeped in history, the beautiful Altafjord cannot be missed when in Norway.
