The only park in the world to house five of Africa’s seven major biomes and the infamous "Big 7“ (namely the elephant, rhinoceros, lion, buffalo, leopard, whale and great white shark) in their natural habitat, Addo Elephant National Park is undoubtedly one of Africa’s greatest national treasures and a must when visiting the region near Port Elizabeth in South Africa.

Ornithologists will also be interested in Bird Island and St. Croix Island, home to the largest colony of gannets and African penguins respectively. Overflowing with exotic flora and fauna, the Addo Elephant National Park is perfect for all nature lovers and visitors looking to fulfill their African Savannah dreams. The icing on the cake? No immunisation is needed for travel to the park because it is a malaria-free area.

Tips Before You Go
Lions and spotted hyenas are most often seen in the early morning or towards the end of the day, and elephants can be spotted at watering holes during the evenings as well. Stay in the place park overnight at one of the campsites, and prepare enough food for a picnic for a truly memorable experience! For summer (September - March), wear cool comfortable clothing and bring insect repellent, sunhats and sunscreen. For winter and autumn (April - August), wear warm clothing as it gets cold at night. Wear comfortable hiking shoes and bring a torchlight as outdoor lighting gets limited at camps at night.
