Abbey Road Zebra Crossing

A Nexus for all Beatles Fans.

The most ordinary of roads and the most pedestrian of crossings: Who would have thought that one band could immortalize this everyday path, and turn it into a landmark? In 2010, the Abbey Road Crossing was granted a Grade II status for its cultural and historical significance, owing to the iconic cover art of the Beatles’ Abbey Road album. The photo was taken in 1969, right outside the studio that the Beatles did most of their recording in. Contrary to popular belief, and to the dismay of many confused tourists, this crossing is found near St. John's Wood station, and not at Abbey Road station, which is actually on the other side of London. Despite the rather misleading name, this is truly one iconic street. Just remember to keep a lookout for oncoming vehicles if you want to recreate the Beatles' album cover art.
